FUNDRAISERS

Charity Breakfast

Charity Breakfast

Thanks to all who joined us for our Charity Breakfast

held on 9th November 2024.

Over 70 people signed up for our Big Breakfast in
Wesley Hall at Bakewell Methodist Church. Many went

for the full English, but breakfast cobs of either

sausage or bacon were also available, as were

vegetarian options.

The diners were also treated to volunteer pianists who,

throughout the morning, entertained with a selection of

music. The musicians included an accordion player and

a couple of duettists, and a sincere thanks go to all who

played - Stephen, Edwina & Judy, Sarah, Heather and

Ernesto.

This was the third Big Breakfast helping to support The Goboka Rwanda Trust, and so popular is this event that it is now part of our regular fundraising activities, and next year's slot for 8th November 2025 has already been secured.

As always, many thanks go to those who tirelessly worked in the kitchen/waitressing - Tony, Lesley, Brenda, Ann, Joan - and to Phyllis who ran the stall selling goods brought back from Rwanda on a recent visit. Of course, this event would not have been possible or successful without all those who came along and supported us, many thanks to one and all, and we hope to see you next year!

The event raised £825 and this will be allocated to some of the projects we are already implementing in Rwanda this year.

Although The Goboka Rwanda Trust is not a church-based charity, we are delighted to report on recent support from our friends across the denominations who have raised funds in recent months to assist our work.

In recent months we were supported once again by Bakewell Methodist Church Keep Fit Group with a generous donation of £200.

Soap

Thanks to the ladies who supported Lesley Brennan prior to the recent trip to Rwanda. They raised £200 which which we bought 300 tablets of nicely boxed scented soap.

These were distributed to people we met during our visit, many of whom can only afford basic carbolic soap for washing themselves and their clothes, so a tablet of nicely scented soap truly is a real treat!
