Bee Hives Project
In the past honey bees have been kept in hollow logs in the trees, but this was not a very efficient way of harvesting the honey.

We were asked to support a new scheme whereby more western hives were purchased, and 3 young men sent for training as bee keepers.

Within a few months, the hives were attracting bees and the first harvest yielded 53kg of honey, enough for the village community and a surplus to sell elsewhere. The bee keepers can now train others as more schemes are introduced elsewhere.

A full scheme costs about £1,500 so we try to support further schemes by selling 'Bee' cards for £10 - cards which can be given as a gift or purchased simply to support the work we are trying to do. These cards can be purchased using our online shop, linked below.
